So what was the Boston Tea Party?
The Boston Tea Party was the colonists' way of revolting against unfair taxing from the Tea Act on December 16, 1773. The colonists were also outraged by the fact that they had no say in the matter. The colonists dressed up as Indians and threw over 300 boxes of tea over three ships, into the water. This one act caused a chain reaction for the colonists. It showed them how unfairly treated they were, and that angered them. This caused an uproar that would be heard by the entirety of Great Britain. The act was the start of the rebellion for freedom from the British. This act is essentially why America is how it is today.
Short Term Aftermath
After the tea was all thrown away, the harbor reeked of tea. As revenge for all the lost tea, the harbor was closed until all 342 boxes of tea were paid for. This was put down as the Boston Port Act and was enforced by the Intolerable Act. These acts made the colonists furious, it united the colonists together and eventually caused American Revolution, which began in Massachusetts in 1775.
